Roger L. Carlson, July 21, 2010, issue

Roger L. Carlson formerly of Shafer, Minn., died June 21, 2010, at Veterans Medical Center in St. Cloud. He was 82.

Roger was born July 3, 1927, in Phnom Penh, Cambodia to Paul and Ruth Carlson. He graduated from high school in Ashville, NC. He served in the United States Navy during World War II.

On July 23, 1948, he married Esther DeLong at Richmond, Calif. He worked as a tool and die maker for Honeywell. On Aug. 10, 1985, he married June Armstrong in Brooklyn Center, Minn. Roger enjoyed reading, music, mechanics, astronomy, was active in church activities and especially his family.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Ruth, wife Esther, grandson Ryan Fisk, brother Ralph Carlson and sister Joyce Carlson.

He is survived by his wife June, daughters Jan (Steve) Luginbill of Shafer; Becky (Rich) Fisk of Shafer; sons, Roger (Mary Jane) Carlson of Polson, Mont., Kevin (Marcia) Carlson of Shafer, 18 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, two anticipated great-grandchildren; June’s family, Judy (Gene) Patch, Ruth (Gary) Lang, Stephen (Jan) Armstrong, seven grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were June 24 at Lakes Free Church in Lindstrom with Pastor James Fann, officiating. Interment was in St. Croix Falls Cemetery. Condolences may be left at www.grandstrandfh.com
