New Richmond man killed in ATV accident

A 31-year-old New Richmond, Wis., man was struck by a train and killed last Wednesday during a heavy morning fog.

According to a St. Croix County Sheriff’s Department press release, Vincent V. Timm was riding a 1989 Yamaha 350 alongside the Wisconsin Central Railroad line when he got the ATV hung up while attempting to cross the tracks. Timm was struck by a westbound 100-car Canadian National train carrying 9,722 tons of product. The train conductor saw the ATV but was unable to stop prior to striking the ATV.

The accident occurred at approximately 5:45 a.m. near County Road O in the Town of Cylon. Low visibility due to the fog was cited as a contributing factor, the release stated.

Timm is the son of Susan Olson, co-owner of Sue’s Hometown Bar & Grill in East Farmington, Wis. Timm's brother, Jonathan Timm, is also an owner of the bar.
